There are 2 ways to enroll users in to educo, self enrollment and bulk upload of users.

Self-enrollment is suitable for small numbers of users or where the users are from outside of Aorakinet, Cantatech or Westnet. The user fills in a simple form and creates a password. The teacher tells the students where to access their course and the students get on with their work. This method is simple but relies on students being able to correctly type in their email address!

To self enroll you need to go to http://educo.vln.school.nz/login/index.php and create a new account.

Below is a scenario of how a teacher may use self enrollment to add new students to a course.

1. The teacher creates a course and emails the student the URL of the course - this is the 'internet address' found in the address bar of your web browser. Below is a screen shot of a course with the address bar URL highlighted (in black) - the address is http://educo.vln.school.nz/course/view.php?id=124.

2. The student reads the email and uses a web browser to open the URL.

A. If the course does not allow guest access, the student is presented with the login screen and given an option to create a new user. The student follows the process for creating a new user (self-explanatory if you are doing it) and is enrolled on the course.

B. If the course allows guest access, the student will be able to see the course, but not participate in it. The student needs to click on the words 'login' (in the top right hand corner of the screen. The student is presented with the login screen and given an option to create a new user. The student follows the process for creating a new user (self-explanatory if you are doing it) and is enrolled on the course.

3. The URL to create an educo account, but not enroll on a course is http://educo.vln.school.nz/login/index.php .

4. To add a student to a course who already has an educo account, but is not enrolled on a particular course, teachers can click on 'assign roles' on the left- hand side of their course (see screenshot below)

5. Next, click on 'student' and the use the add and remove buttons to edit the list of enrolled students. Any changes are updated 'live' there is no need to save changes.

Bulk Upload of Users is suitable when adding lots (for example a whole school) of users. The person responsible for bulk uploading users needs to create a spreadsheet in accordance with the following instructions - http://docs.moodle.org/en/Upload_users . A blank template will be helpful!

Next either request permission from the educo administrators to gain bulk uploading permissions or email the bulk upload spreadsheet to the educo administrators.
