Guidelines for Creating and Naming Courses in Educo

At least one teacher at each school has the correct permissions to create courses in Educo. To change or request more teachers to be added to this role, contact us.

Where to Create Courses

Courses should be created in the correct NZ curriculum area found under the 'learning' menu or if the course is aligned to key competencies, found under - you guessed it - key competencies. Each curriculum area or subject is divided into the following categories NCEA levels 1, 2 and 3 and Y9-10, Y6-8 and Y0-5.

Test courses should be created in the 'sandpit' area. Sandpit courses are liable to be deleted without notice and should be used for trialling out features etc.

How to Name Courses

Courses should be named as follows:

NCEA Levels 1 to 3. Where possible the name should start with the NZQA Standard Number followed by a suitable name and then an identifier for the teacher and school. E.g. consider a course based on the standard 7606, "Describe the plot and characters, and identify the themes of selected episodes of the Trojan war", delivered by the teacher Joe Bloggs at Opihi College. It would be named as follows;

Fullname:7607 The Trojan War:JB@OC
Shortname: 7607:JB@OC

For non-NCEA courses use a sensible name and the teacher@school identifier noted above.
