Essential information about this course

What will you learn?

This course will help to get you started using Moodle online course pages to support teaching and learning activities. The course takes a step-by-step approach in how to use some of the main information and learning activity tools in Moodle. In each topic you will read an overview followed by some detailed 'How to...' resources where you can watch how the tools are set up. During the course you will learn, among other things, how to:

• Use a profile page and other tools to create a teacher introduction to students
• Take a course design approach and identify the most suitable Moodle page design to meet the requirements of the learning activities
• Develop the required information resources and learning activities using the Moodle modules
• Develop the assessments and/or assessment mechanisms in Moodle
• Describe and use Moodle tools which assist with the management and monitoring of student achievement
• Use the feedback module to create a student evaluation mechanism
• Participate in the Moodle Open Source Community to assist with day-to-day knowledge requirements.

How will you learn?

Each course topic presents you with an overview of the type of activity you can set up in Moodle, followed by some detailed 'How to...' resources. These demonstrate how to set up and use the tools.

There are links throughout the course to the Moodle for New Zealand School website and Moodle website. These sites have a wealth of guides or links to resources that help you. If you are not sure how to complete a task, check out these sites.

Keeping a log of your work

In each module we suggest various activities to help you learn. We strongly recommend you get into the habit of logging down how you do things as a future reference point. This is helpful for you and possibly also your colleagues in the future.
