Analysis Map
This map tells you what is happening at that exact time. Where the red arrow is pointing will tell you what type of map it is i.e Anal = Analysis map
Prognosis Map
This map tells you what the predicted weather map will look like. Prog = Prognosis map.
This one is an educated guess on what the future weather will be like
Infrared Satellite Image
An Infrared Satellite image shows two things.
Temperature
Cloud Cover
Isobaric Map
This map is a general weather map that you will see in the paper and on the television. It shows
Barometric pressure
Wind direction
Fronts
Highs and Lows
